It's not only the fruits from the orchard that make their way into our cakes and desserts at this time of year, but the also fruits of the Earth.

Sweeter vegetable varieties such as roots and tubers which are also being harvested now before the heavy frosts set in, make surprisingly tasty baking.

Here are just a few ideas, many of the vegetables can be interchanged or substituted in these recipes.
